We’re live!
Exciting news! We’re thrilled to release Vero 2.0 into public beta, including SMS support.
From today all current and new Vero users can switch to the new Vero 2.0 interface, giving you a glimpse into the future.
This marks the first step in rolling out Vero 2.0, which will ultimately bring all the features from both Vero Cloud and Vero Connect to every Vero user.
How we got here
Two years ago, we launched Vero Connect, envisioning a future where SaaS applications read and write data directly from your data warehouse, without the need to sync your user data to Vero via API and store it on our servers.
With nearly a third of message volume now sent via Vero Connect, it’s clear companies are embracing this approach for building audiences, but we’ve also learned that the majority of our customers want both the ability to load audiences directly from the warehouse via SQL and to store data in Vero when they need to.
Sometimes it makes sense to load from the warehouse, sometimes it doesn’t.
Building on Connect’s success, we’re taking the next step and integrating the core storage and audiences features from Vero Cloud into Vero Connect. This merging of features comes in the form of an updated interface: Vero 2.0.
The future of Vero
As of today, you can switch to the new Vero 2.0 interface from any existing Vero Cloud (which we’ll refer to as "Vero 1.0" going forward) project. Vero 2.0 is not just a glimpse into the future but a fully functional product, allowing you to send messages right away.
Vero 2.0 is built from the ground up on top of a new API, which we’ll be releasing publicly, and contains brand new frontend components. This results in a faster, cleaner, and more organized experience when using Vero.
Even more exciting, Vero 2.0 is designed to be truly multi-channel thanks to several large architectural changes. We’re currently rolling out SMS and, thanks to the thoughtful design decisions we’ve made, look forward to releasing WhatsApp, in-app messaging and more as soon as we can.
How to switch to and from Vero 2.0
Switching between the familiar Vero 1.0 interface and the new Vero 2.0 interface is easy. Open your Vero Cloud account, go to the product menu, and select "Open in Vero 2.0".
You can seamlessly switch back using the "Open in Vero 1.0" button in the project menu.
What you can do in Vero 2.0
Note: Firstly, it’s important to note that not all features in Vero 2.0 are fully backwards compatible with Vero 1.0 yet. Our goal throughout the remainder of 2024 is to enhance feature support continually. As more features are added to Vero 2.0, we anticipate you’ll spend more time using the new interface.
Ultimately, our plan is to sunset the Vero 1.0 interface once every feature seamlessly transitions to Vero 2.0. (Don’t worry, we won’t sunset Vero 1.0 any time soon!)
The new experience is deliberately familiar in lots of ways. We are taking the best of Vero and improving upon it. Let’s explore some key features in Vero 2.0.
Load audiences from your data warehouse
As Vero 2.0 inherits all functionality from Vero Connect, you can now send campaigns to audiences loaded directly from external data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery and more. This means you can load audiences faster, leverage more data for personalization and better control your subscriber count (and costs) in Vero.
Upon sending a campaign to an external audience, delivery, open, click, and other data seamlessly integrates with customer profiles created and stored via the Vero 1.0 interface.
You can read more about this in our help article on Vero 2.0.
Send SMS messages
With the release of Vero 2.0 you can now send SMS messages to your customers.
SMS is supported natively in Vero 2.0 and currently works with all supported audience sources in Vero 2.0.
Learn how to configure SMS messaging and how to send an SMS message in our help documentation.
Every feature we add to Vero 2.0 will support SMS. In particular we look forward to releasing a new version of Workflows supporting SMS in the near future.
Share subscription status
When you access the Vero 2.0 interface from an existing project, all of your users’ unsubscribe statuses are seamlessly shared. This ensures that any message you send, regardless of whether you create it in Vero 1.0 or Vero 2.0 will respect your users’ historical subscription and hard bounce statuses.
This also means you to experiment with direct data warehouse connections without setting up a separate Vero Connect project (as has previously been the requirement).
Think of Vero 2.0 as a fresh "skin" overlaying your existing data in the Vero Cloud project.
Directly import CSV audiences
You can now drag in a CSV and send a campaign in just two clicks! We know that lots of users source their audiences from BI tools or other internal interfaces. This feature allows you to send newsletter campaigns by dragging in a CSV and eliminating the need for tagging users and creating segments. Vero 2.0 also supports importing directly from a Google Sheet (without exporting and importing CSVs)!
Use your existing templates
All of the templates you’ve created using the Vero 1.0 interface will appear in Vero 2.0 and can be edited in either Vero 1.0 or Vero 2.0, ensuring they stay in sync.
What’s coming in Vero 2.0
Over the next few months, expect the following new features to appear in the Vero 2.0 interface:
- The ability to send campaigns to audiences you have created in Vero 1.0.
- A brand new workflow interface.
- Support for iOS and Android push messages.
- Better campaign organization using folders.
- A new way to build and save your audiences.
For developers, a preview of our new API is already available at developers.getvero.com, with more endpoints to come in 2024.
We’re super excited about Vero 2.0 and envision a future where all customers seamlessly transition to this new interface. Your feedback is crucial, so please share your thoughts with us at support@getvero.com or chris@getvero.com.
